Since the Republic was established in 1910, only three major International Philatelic Exhibitions took place in Portugal: PORTUGAL 1953; PORTUGAL 1998; and LUBRAPEX 2003.
To celebrate the centenary, the Portuguese Post Office (CTT) and the Portuguese Philatelic Federation, under the patronage of the International Philatelic Federation, will present the PORTUGAL 2010 – World Philatelic Exhibition (PORTUGAL 2010 – Exposição Mundial de Filatelia)
With its thematic exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Portuguese Republic, the event will include youth dedicated programmes, competitions and a business dedicated sector.
Occupying an area of 10,000 sqm, the exhibition is expected to include nearly 1 million philatelic specimens from approximately 77 participating countries.
Visitors will have the opportunity to admire part of the collection of Prince Albert of Monaco and part of the collection of Her Majesty the Queen of England (exposed in the Class Honour)
Another highlight will be the 1st Stamp of the World - Penny Black.
The Portugal 2010 - World Philatelic Exhibition will take place from 1 to October 10, 2010, at FIL - Feira Internacional de Lisboa (International Fair of Lisbon) located in the Parque das Nações (Nations Park)
In parallel with this event, the 71st FIP Congress (October 10) and the FIAP Members Meeting will also be held in Lisbon.
