The International Center of Photography, NY, is showing a series of once classified and circulation restricted photos that witness the impact of the atomic bomb on various building materials surrounding the blast site, the first "Ground Zero." Approximately 60 contact prints drawn from a unique archive of more than 700 photographs in its collection depict the devastation caused by the atomic bomb "Little Boy" in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.Organized by Erin Barnett, Assistant Curator of Collections, the photography exhibition "Hiroshima: Ground Zero 1945" can be seen until August 28, 2011 at the International Center of Photography. Writer and film-maker Adam Harrison Levy wrote and in-depth article about the exhibition and the story behind it.
A catalogue with 248 pages and containing more than 300 illustrations is available.
